2009 Doorways Around The World #3 - Ireland - Ornament
This Irish house has a wreath on the two piece door front door with cobblestone
surrounding the doorway. Inside a decorated Christmas tree provides the spirit
of Christmas. A large candle closing the window in the newly whitewashed door
is left unlocked in case Mary and Joseph happen by. The table inside is set with
Irish bread stuffed with raisins and caraway seeds. A Celtic cross sits atop the
tree of holly and there is a shamrock above the door which reminds the faithful
of the time when St. Patrick used the three leaves to illustrate the Trinity.
