Robert Leroy Paige, nicknamed "Satchel", pitched more than 2,500
games and was known for his legendary fastball. He played 22 years
in the Negro leagues before joining the Cleveland Indians as the oldest
rookie in 1948. He was the oldest pitcher in the major leagues when he
pitched his final game in 1965.
